The summer months are often a bit slow, as a wedding photographer in Florida – I mean, who wants to get married in this heat?! However, while slow can often mean boring, I tend to enjoy these months. They feel like an opportunity to recharge my batteries. To photograph for fun. To be creative for the sake of being creative. To try new things…
The summer months also afford me the time for things like graduation shoots and portrait sessions! When I first started in photography, I practiced by photographing my friends (lucky for me, I had a lot of pretty friends who liked having their photo taken 😉 ). I look back fondly on those early shoots. Back before I had a mental list of “go to” poses. When I simply photographed what I saw.
Summertime makes me nostalgic in many ways, but every year, it seems as if my favorite season comes along and brings with it a reminder of why I do what I do, and how to do it best. And that makes me even fonder of this sweet time of year.
Below are some images I made of the lovely Meghan, who graduates with her Masters degree from FSU on Saturday! We roamed around campus, visiting some of her favorite locations and talking about her plans for the future. It was a treat to get know her and to spend some time at my alma mater! Congratulations, Meghan!
