Shed Portraits

I recently moved into a new house. It’s a small box shaped house built in the 50’s with shiny wood floors, glass door knobs, and an oven that looks like an antique. For the past two weeks, my friend (and roomie!) Emily and I have worked hard painting, decorating, and making the house our home. We’ve bought rugs, hung picture frames, and made many trips to the backyard shed to store Christmas decorations, books, and other boxes filled with items that won’t fit in our small brick house. Every time I open the shed doors, I’m met with a blanket of darkness save for two patches of light streaming in from two small rectangle windows. To most, the shed would likely be an eyesore. Nothing more than a holding place for unwanted items. To me, it’s been an inspiration for a photo shoot from the moment I walked in. Yesterday, Emily and I opened the doors and decided to test the light.
