4 years ago I went to New York city for the first time to visit a friend of mine who was attending NYU. At the time, a career in photography was no where near my brain. I don’t even think I knew what a DSLR was! But, I packed my Canon point-and-shoot and flew to the concrete jungle where dreams are made of.
The city was incredible. The noise. The smells. The languages. The buildings! The pace. Everything about it was foreign to me. I had no idea which direction to look! All I knew was I wanted to remember it forever. So I put my little point-and-shoot to work, and I never wanted to stop. About a year later, I made the decision to pursue a career in photography, and I honestly believe that first trip to New York city had a major impact on my love affair with photography.
Tomorrow morning my family and I flies to NYC for my dad’s 60th birthday celebration. I am beyond excited to return to the city that never sleeps as an older, wiser, and more mature photographer.
Below is one of my photos from that trip. 4 years ago, it is still one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken.
